I was always taught,"You get nothing for nothing in this Life" and it's a policy I have always adhered to, there are some people who have never worked in their entire lives and there are some and I stress the word 'some' students , who think by going to University for a 'of little use degree' like Sports or Sociology will hold them in good stead for the future, Heaven help them, but I, like a lot of you reading this thread, am pleased I contributed to society by working and paying my way and not being of the take, take, take breed

I don't think bobbi would approve of my family. One nephew who is a doctor has buggered off to NZ so they can't get his money, and his brother who is a teacher is a Head of Media Studies .............

Dris - ever get the feeling you're being ignore??
I can't believe there is a Degree in Hairdressing. Hairdressing is a skill and no amount of studying will help you do it better. You may understand some of the underlying principles, but it is the "cut" that matters at the end of the day, and you either have that skill or you don't. I'd rather know that they had trained at Vidal's than gone to Oxbridge.

craft I neither approve or disapprove ;-)
What about the chemicals they put on your head?
'Media Studies' always gets some stick but actually 'Creative Services': media, music, film, TV, arts, advertising, computer entertainment, theatre etc

are a massive earner for this country - a close second to Financial Services and a much bigger earner and employer than say farming
.
Colour technicians simply need to know how to apply the ready made colorants properly. If they want to know more than that (i.e. study of the chemicals involved), then I would suggest one of the sciences might be more helpful.
ummm -its part of the fun -they just dont get it :))
i don't really understand how the sports science degree has helped her get where she is - what has it got to do with accounting etc?
Hopes Doc is on the rum n coke ^^ (bednobs) :)
not being rude or anything, just don't understand
Just jesting bednobs -wasnt directly posted at you as such it could have been anyone who made the post but our Doc can be 'nawty' when he has had a couple -and to Doc XXX if you see this.
From what I gathered, I could be wrong, she done sports science and Maths. Passed sports science, got a job that helped pay her way through accounting.
