Even though she is being drip fed heroin by her mother, how long does cold turkey go on for if she hadn't been?
In The French Connection it took Gene Hackman about a week to get back to normal.

Chrissa -when i said years -I meant that most junkies are addicted for years before they withdraw.
I didnt mean the process would take years altho cold turkey is brutal and dangerous but when i see the same characters going for their methadone year in year out in my local pharmacy i wonder if cold turkey would be the better option....thankfully i'll never know...

Another of my pet hates in soapland - which I don't feel is too realistic - is that whwn somone has a problem they take a drink or ten. Then within a week they are an alcoholic.

Similarly a week after a 'crazy' turn they are bi-polar. Two days after a same sex kiss they are raving queers/lesbians

I know that things MIGHT happen with drugs this way but in all other aspects I feel the time taken to go from 'normal' to an alcoholic, mad, junkie lesbian is pathetically short.

Lol Dris.
I guess there has to be some poetic licence here as if it was totally true to life, there would never be any dialogue. I have a problem with alcohol and haven't had a drinkl for nearly 3 years but there is no way I would sit in a pub regularly.
Mind you I promise I'm not a lesbian junkie, no no no. Lol
