NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller not working or missing?!?

Hey guys!

I've recently updated my "nVidia - Network - NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller" from Microsoft Windows Updates. >>> http://www.update.mic...default.aspx?ln=en-us

After I've restarted my PC (it required), I couldn't access the net. I've checked my "Local Area Connection 2" for any problems. When I've clicked "Network Connections", I've shocked myself: it disappeared.

Afterwards, I've checked the 'Device Manager'. In the 'Network Adapters' had an yellow exclamation mark. There was a problem. I've clicked "Properties" and the status said "Your device doesn't work properly. It's missing or it's corrputed [Code 39]" or something like that.

Luckly, I've 'rolled back' my device. I've restarted the PC again and now the net works. But still, that Hardware update is there. And what's odd, it says that this "update" was released in AUGUST.

What... the... heck??

Is it truly a problem or what?!

Do a custom update, expand the update for the NIC by clicking the little plus sign next to it and put a tick in don't show this update again.
Whenever Windows Update flags a 3rd party driver it is often prudent to resist the urge to install it and instead check the manufacturer's website...

@ChuckFickens - Thanks for the recommendation. I'll do it, but still I want to upgrade it if it's truly a real upgrade somewhere.

@ABerrant - Thank you for the link, but I didn't find anything about network controller or connections.
Get the latest drivers for the NIC from the motherboard or system manufacturers website if you want to make sure you have the latest drivers. (in fact get all the relevant drivers and update them while you are there)
Next time remove the driver in Device Manager (after selecting 'show hidden devices' Check other entries for yellow at same time. Then install original/new driver and reboot.
If you do not know which nForce series driver to download (even though the information should be evident from Device Manager and the blurb from the Windows Update) you can always select

Option 2: Automatically find Motherboard drivers for your product.
