Prague or Budapest? Or both?

I'm planning a trip in late November with my boyfriend for around 6 or 7 nights, but cannot decide between the two. Can anyone give me an insight into the pros and cons of the cities? Also, thought we could do 3 nights in each, is that enough time to see either city, or should we stick to one or the other this time?

Thanks!

I haven't been to either but I have friends that have been to both and they say that they're both very beautiful but Prague is far more expensive.  The Czech Republic is a very cheap country... apart from Prague!  As you mention I'd try and fit both of them in!

I've spent a few days in Prague earlier this year and found it really cheap for food and drinks. There are some commercial places but if you have a wander it's easy enough to find gorgeous, traditional bars serving great Czech food. It's incredibly beautiful but quite small. You might run out of things to do if you went for a whole week- I'd do both.
If you do go to Prague then go to the 7 Angels on Jilska in the Old Town for a brilliant meal. It's the most romantic place ever. Frescoes on the walls, candlelight and usually a violinist or other musician. It's an intimate affair so I'd pop in to book the day before you want to go.

i agree i went to Prague last feb (it was cold and snowing but it made it more beautiful) and found that it was not expensive at all. they have a great transport system so its easy to get around. You here of people going for stag and hen do's but i never saw any of that, its  a gorgeous city would definately recommend it

never been to budapest tho

Prague is more expensive than other parts of Czech Republic.  I've been to Pilsen which was dirt cheap - a good quality pint costs 50p.

My wife and I have just returned from a six day trip to Budapest, and found it a great place - good reasonable hotels, cheap food and drink, public transport the best we have ever come across - no litter, touts, beggars, drunks - and the British Hens/stags/Lager louts have yet to discover it!

A really interesting city, bags of history, architecture, etc. Go there now before it gets spoilt!

go to both. prague is beautiful and romantic and relatively contained so you can get the feeling for it in a relatively short time. but budapest is not a far trek off, so why not do both? I would!
Or try Tallin in Estonia.   Like a mini Prague, but unfortunately the hen/stag party brigade have also discovered it!

I haven't been to Prague but I have been to Budapest.

It was one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen. Very reasonable to.

Just make sure you buy a travel card for public transport as they are quite strict on this. You can but them quite cheap and they can last for years.
