My hubby snores so loudly we sleep in seperate bedrooms and at home that isn't a problem but we go on holiday at Christmas and are all going to be sleeping in one room. I am not only concerned about my own lack of sleep but worried that he will wake the kids up! I know there is lots of products that claim to work but does anyone use any and definitely recommend anything please?

I'm a bit confused sqad -

I didn;t say the operation worked - long-term it has not been successful.

I don't wear the breathing mask - tried it in the early stages, no good - took it back.
Ask him to try sleeping on his side.
andy.....me again, not reading carefully.....apologies.
No probs sqad!
Well after trying the CPAP device for sleep apnoea without much success (every time I turned onto my side the mask slipped, the air made a whistling noise which woke my wife who promptly woke me so that I coould sort the mask out) I was eventually referred to the dental people who fixed me up with a custom made gadget like that snorkil thing. That works fine for me, though I only suffered from mildly obstructive sleep apnoea
i find really good earplugs work for me, as my bird snores like a foghorn
ear plugs work for me to.
I just push Oh back on his side facing away from me and usually he stops snoring buts starts muttering (probably subconsiously wondering whats happening )
Buy a mandibular advancement appliance. This positions the lower jaw forwards and stops the tongue/jaw falling back towards the throat blocking the airway or breathing passages, especially when sleeping on your back.
In addition cut down drinking alcohol and try to lose some weight.
People with sleep apnoea (snoring) generally feel very tired all the time because they get very little quality sleep, let alone their unfortunate partners
Good luck
As far as I am aware, for anyone wearing dentures the Snorekil does not work Have not heard of Mandibular, can that be used with or without dentures
I believe denture wearers are not able to use a Snorekill - the device has to lock over your teeth, so obviously dentures would be useless.

The mandibular advancement appliance sounds like the same thing - the priinciple is to pull the lower jaw forward, which keeps the airway wide open and should prevens snoring.
Here are some things to note about snoring -

*Snoring with a closed-mouth could indicate a problem with the tongue.
* Snoring with an open mouth on the other hand could be related to the tissues in your throat.
* Snoring in all sleep positions could mean something more serious and a more comprehensive treatment might be required.

It can be difficult in such a situation as yours as there might be some resentment or bitterness involved. Try to empathise with your hubby, am sure you are doing that already but at a time like a holiday you would want you and all your family to be in the best of moods.
