The problem is, Bobbi, that AOG has an agenda that does not suit everybody. Many of his/her points are perfectly valid. However as soon as AOG mentions anything which may offend some sections of the AB community, or suggests anything which is not quite “on message” accusation of racism, homophobia, islamaphobia, Nazism and simple right wing nastiness pour into the site.
Debating the type of controversial topics that AOG raises soon descends into personal insults and proper debate is stifled. The very mudslinging that you mention rears its head almost immediately. On a larger scale a similar process takes place throughout the country whenever matters such as those raised by AOG are aired.
The same happened with Climate Change deniers and is now happening again with those suggesting that cutting the country’s massive financial deficit is paramount and urgent.
One cannot have a point of view that conflicts with the some elements of society for fear of personal castigation.

Well bless your bobbisox, Bobbi, that's what it is all about, there is no need for all the mud-slinging and abuse.
But I am afraid that we live in a country where one is not allowed to speak one's mind, and if one does on a site such as this, there are those who try to stifle issues, that for reasons only known to themselves, they do not wish to be aired, in case it awakens those that are normally a little apathetic.
