What is a Local Authority development manager?

Hello all,

I'm wondering what a local authority development manager actually does? I know its something to do with planning?!?

Any help would be great....

It's to do with development control i.e. making sure than planning permission requests fit in with the overall local planning strategy. They get involved with planning but tend to have a higher focus than the planning officers who look at the technical details of planning apps. Hope this helps.
I think the answer may actually be 'as little as possible'. It may be that we won't be needing any after yesterday.
