Beg of the year I bought 4 min fruit trees[plum, apple, pear & cherry] in tubs they are supposed to be 2 yrs old, well no fruit this year but maybe next ? should I prune them if so when ? also I have a 5yr old fig tree in a huge pot, only ever had 2 figs in all that time, when do I prune and should I be quite harsh and prune to within one inch of its life ? I really try with my little garden but its not a sucess story I'm afraid.dvise appreciated.

If you google pruning fruit trees, that should tell you.
I reckon you could leave the fruit trees to their own devices for another year and see how they go. Feeding and watering will be very important if they are in tubs.

Re. Fig tree, prune to shape after October (not when too cold and frosty)and enjoy as an architectural plant - any fruit will be a bonus. A hard prune will encourage vigorous, whippy growth.
