Can someone please tell me why all beetle cars have a flower on the dashboard and what the meaning of this is?? It's one of those things which I have noticed, and now that I have seen one, I see hundreds all with different types and colours of flowers. Am very curious as to what the hidden meanings are behind this strange procedure. All responses most welcome to save my sanity!!

I'm assuming you mean the chrome flower vase on the dash...Firstly, it is an option, not all VW's have one.  Secondly, it's a marketing ploy to appeal to the generation that made the VW what it is today, the "Flower Power" generation of the 60's and 70's... When they first came out here in the U.S. they (the car) cost $390.  Most of the ones, especially the van's were hippymobiles.  The culture in those years caused a lot of the young people to adhesive flower vases to the dashboard and the custom has been perpetuated...
