Looking at the good thread the ED has done in News about the changes in CB, if you could suggest it, what changes and measures would you make to ensure benefits went to the right people, eg, those who can't work through no fault of their own, it would be pointless us shouting, "Stop in for young kids having kids" who would suffer then? there must be a fair way of people getting any benefits, always an emotive subject tho'

Hi barmiad. I have to agree with cazzz on your remark about children with learning disabilities. I have an autistic son who comes within this category, and unless he's taken for his many hospital/paediatric/doctors appointments, he wouldn't be able to use public transport on his own because of his vulnerability. This includes getting to school which's a 20 minute run at best, and 35 minutes away if traffic's heavy.
He's allowed the lower end of the mobility allowance, which doesn't cover petrol costs, to and from all these places, and he was assessed, and is entitled to, this bit of help.

this thread was asking what would you do to make it fairer, I don't think any particular group were being singled out, it is the ones who don't deserve to have the benefits that cause the problems not the ones who do
Think all people applying for benifits should be interviewed, checked by legit doc's, either vouchers or their bills paid directly so its not wasted on booze/fags & holidays as so many people I know.

1 girl I work with, her wages are more than £1100 per month - yet she told the council that she was homeless (repeatedly for 2 years) and was given a council flat! albeit, it would have been a crap situation if she had actually been homeless - yet why does she get a council flat when she works full time? who checked? RUBBISH

relative of a friend hasnt worked a day in her life due to 'stress' (not undermining it - but go see someone if its bad) she goes on holidays, gets credit cards, her daughter has every little bit of new technology going ...

I dont see how any of this makes sense ... in what world do they pay you more to be off work, than to be in work ?? Then every one moans about polish etc - at least they work bloody hard, grateful for a job, and dont think the world owes them ...

anyway ... rant over

ooooo - maybe more of this 'spying' syuff - or whatever the politically correct term is.. would love to see more 'disabled' people being photographed parachuting or whatever :) I'd love that job ! haha

,I have no problems with the Poles per se but I do object to them sending CB back to their country of origin when the children don't live here
