My brother as "self employed" but he is not declaring it. He is also claiming housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support!! If infuriates me, I have told him to declare but he is not bothered and has the attitude "if they catch me they catch me"
I feel like grassing on him myself to teach him a lesson for being so cocky!!

Well maybe this so called Karma will catch up with him. Unfortunately everyone who has done me or my family wrong hasn't come across it yet.

There is a definite difference between a family/person who is struggling to make ends meet and someone who is choosing to rip off the system and keep mounting debt and moving on so someone else has to deal with it.

This is why I am in such a dilemma! If he wasnt my brother I wouldnt be so worried but he is!
If it is causing you trouble to decide then you obviously don't feel comfortable doing it.
Question Author
It might not even be so bad if he paid his bills!! He has got away with them for YEARS!!!
Question Author
No defo dont feel comfortable doing it but at the same time if I dont then he will carry on doing this for a long long time!
Only you can decide. I know what I would do. You must do what you feel comfortable doing either way.
Question Author
Thanks, you would grass him up wouldnt you? Would you tell him it was you or keep quiet?
Sorry in advance boona.....

Hi Greedy, have you started your new job? Is it going OK? What's everyone like?

xx
I would tell him if he didn't declare it then I will be giving them a call. Just be prepared for an unhappy sibling!

He seems to have no regard for the law/rules or for the people he keeps screwing over.
Thankfully, my siblings know better. However, were they to let me know they were doing this, they would receive a serious talking to from me and then from my mother. The latter is a far worse predicament than any prosecution at which point I have no doubt they would be forced to "do the right thing". She's really quite scary my mum. I keep thinking I should offer her to the government if things in Afghanistan get out of hand.
Question Author
Thankyou Barmaid, I only wish a good talking too would do the trick!!
Trouble is, its a difficult one. I couldn't condone one of mine doing it, but not sure I could grass them up either. If it was someone I didn't know, I would not have a problem. Just not entirely sure I could do it with my own kith and kin. I do appreciate the difficulty of your situation because your morals tell you to do one thing and your loyalty another. I'm afraid I have no answers. I sure as hell wouldn't want to be you right now though.

Should I send mum round?!
Question Author
Yes please, we need yr mum lol!!
Question Author
Just a quick update, I didnt do it but my brother has now declared himself as working anyway!!
Boona - thanks for the update - always good to know how dilemmas work out!
