I am not with him anymore but when we were on a break he slept with her. We are still friends and he told me last night he slept with her more than once, I understand that this is legal etc, but it's not something I would do, he doesnt see a problem with it...

She did say at the time she was pregnant, thats how I got to find out about it, she said she lost it though but have never seen any pregnancy notes or anything. Think she was a bit infatuated with him or so I thought! Obviously something was going on.

Yes, but more distant, so any problems which may arise with offspring from such a union are less likely than those of 1st cousins.

The chance of defects with in the children of cousins has been highly exaggerated and is only very slightly higher than unrelated parents. One removed takes it another step away from being a problem.

The real problems happen when the cousins are from lines where there are not enough ancestors through frequent cousin marriages over many generations.

the girl I am talking about died young, she wasnt quite mentally there, not sure relationship between the parents, havent really asked as big family secret

There was a couple in my town who were first cousins who got married. They had 2 sons who both had learning difficulties - not sure if it was autism. One of them died earlier this year at the age of 40. It's quite sad really - they're (were) nice boys, but they just weren't quite right. The dad is dead too and it's now just the mum and the one boy, but he can't really cope on his own and the mum is getting on a bit so I don't know what'll happen to him when she can't look after him anymore.

There are plenty of unrelated parents who have children with problems. People just tend to see any close relationship as the cause while they see the others as simply due to chance.
