Be warned I have just received (and deleted) this e-mail from HM revenue and customs (supposedly).

Following an upgrade of our computer systems and review of our records we have investigated your payments and latest tax returns over the last seven years our calculations show you have made over payments of ?256.99
Due to the high volume of refunds due you must complete the on line application, the telephone help line is unable to assist with this application.
In order to process your refund you will need to complete the attached application form.
Your refund may take up to 3 weeks to process please make sure you complete the form correctly.
As we are upgrading our records we require the completed form showing your full current details by 20 August 2010

Please submit the form attached to confirm the refund.

Yes, I get a couple every week. I don't even bother reporting them now.
If you look at the form is actually says,
"Please give details of account to be DEBITED" which I though was a rather honest touch in the scam e-mail.............:o)
One of the scam emails even gave an email address with "phishngHMRC" in the address
hate those hoax e-mail warnings, but this one is important.

If a man comes to your front door and says he is conducting a survey and asks you to show him your boobs, DO NOT show him your boobs. This is a scam. He only wants to see your boobs.

I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid.
