How do I stop my toilet from flushing?

My fairly new toilet wont stop flushing ,any tips?please its driving me mad

 Their is an adjustment you have to make to the stop **** in the cistern . If you don't know what you are doing it is best to call a plumber.
What do you mean it keeps flushing?  Is it one of those push button ones?  If it is the standard ball valve type, then this may be wedged or sticking.  Open the top of the cistern and look to see if the ball valve is rising with the water.  If the ball is rising then the valve should close off.  If it isn't, then you need to see whether it is sticking or is jammed.  The ball valve arm should be able to moce up and down freely with the rise and fall of water in the cistern.
