im wanting to make sure that someone im sending mail to receives it, to an ebay actually but im not keen on them knowing my address, just a privacy thing really. if i record or register, not sure which or even either, then do i have to give details of its origin, ie my name and address etc and can they tell the origin from maybe tracking?

thanks for that, i didnt realise it showed my full details. ive just signed up to ebay so will have a good look at this.
Hi, I don't want to disagree with Eddie, but if you are a Private seller (i.e. not registered on eBay as a Business Seller) I thought that your address only went to your eBay buyer if you had put Personal Cheque or Postal Order as a means of payment on your listing. If you have only given Paypal as an option, I didn't think that your postal address went to the Buyer. I have bought lots of things on eBay and when Paypal is the only payment option and it's a Private not Business seller, you get the Sellers real name, town and postcode but not the house number. Business Sellers legally have to put a Business Contact address in the listing.
If you have had a transaction on eBay as either a Buyer or a Seller you can obtain the other's contact telephone number (you have to re-input your password and type letters & numbers etc, and you can only do think if there's a transaction between you), but you never get their address.
I know that this is not a response to your original question, but hope it helps on the whole privacy thing, which is a subject very dear to my heart too!!

By Private Seller I mean being a non-Business Registered trader, I don't mean enabling Buyers to remain anonymous in your listing. If I sell something, I tend to only offer Paypal as a payment option as it costs more in fuel to drive the many miles to the nearest bank or post office than the Paypal fees. I also don't offer a returns policy. I suppose my stand on these issues means I do put some Buyers off, but I take my chances.
It's no biggie any of this! I guess it just goes to show that we all have different preferences and ways of doing things!!
