Why is it necessary to pay for a T.V. licence if you already pay "Sky" to receive broadcasts?
Most people "own" their television/s and if you only use "Sky" it seems as though your paying twice.
Or is there more to it than that?

I'm personally not in favour of the licence fee but they get you on the wording of the licence
"Your licence allows TELEVISION RECIEVERS to be installed and used at the premesis specified and at the other places detailed overleaf, subjectment to the terms and conditions stated. "
No mentention of the any specific station even though every body knows were the money goes if you have a set capable of recieving TV signals you have to pay.
