Apple imac downloads folder gone from dock

Never had an apple imac before, been very pleased with until this weekend. For some unknown reason it has been freezing and losing its connection from a site that I play cards on, although still connected to the internet. Now it has lost the downloads folder that sits in the dock. Anyone any ideas how I get this folder back on the dock.

Milvus

Open your Finder, click your Home icon (looks like a house) under Places, drag your Downloads folder down to the Dock next to the Documents folder
