i must have strained a muscle around my hip joint but also if i turn a certain way on the leg, it feels like my hip pops a bit. could this be because the muscle around the hip has become weakened? i can put all of my weight on the leg without any pain. can also lift it without much pain.

hollie...recurrent dislocation of the hip is incredibly rare and the diagnosis can be discounted in your case. It would appear to indicate a musculo-skeletal problem which should heal given time and Ibuprofen 400mgms should help.
You didn't get this from rowing this weekend did you?

thanks Sqad.

lol Factor....no i wasnt rowing this weekend! were you??
I had this from age 14, starting from being made to go jogging on frozen ground wearing hockey boots! Flipping school PE.
Both hips would be very sore and feel like they had "slipped" especially if i slept awkwardly, and would "clunk". Sometimes it was too painful to walk up stairs. I found gripping the joint with my thumb over pelvis and fingers in my butt relieved the strain - but obviously was a bit embarrassing!!
Eventually went to a McTimoney practitioner when I was 20, and solved the problem in 3 or 4 visits. May be worth a try.
No hollie, I wasn't rowing this weekend but I know someone on AB who was.
