I've always been fascinated by archaeology since I was tiny, and still am... I want to go on to do a combined Media Practise and Archaeology course at university, but as I was home educated instead of school and am doing a BTEC National Diploma in Media at college, I'm wondering what experience or other qualifications I would need for them to consider me? Is it enough to say I have a passion, a good general knowledge of history (not just modern) and have conducted my own little archaeological projects in the past? (I have never been on an actual dig.) If anyone has some advice that would be fantastic :) thankyou!

Apparently a shovel, a trowel and a little bruch are the essential items........

Seriously, visit http://www.britarch.ac.uk/education/study for detailed information.
That should of course be "brush"....

This is great, thank you ^_^
If it's of interest Vulpine, i did a voluntary dig at Newark Castle about 9 years ago.....I too am partial to a bit of Time Team.
It will come down to two things - firstly whether the course you fancy stipulates any specific qualifications, and secondly your student poitns gained from the qualifications you have. Some uni's also have an interview system, but that tends to be Oxbridge and Durham. So if you are after archaeological sciences as at Bradford, you might need a science to a certain level. My experience of archaeology at uni was that they took from a wide range of backgrounds - this was some time ago and it was one of the first courses that separated out archaeology as a distinct study, without classics or an ancient language attached to it.
Start here:

Click on 'Archaelology', then on 'All Archaeology Courses' That will show all courses in UK universities, including 'joint' and 'combined honours' courses.

When you find a course which might interest you, click on it and then on 'Entry Profile'. From there you can find details of the course and the entry requirements.

The uni I was looking at was Winchester, to do a combined Media Practise and Archaeology course, they don't list any specific entry requirements that I can see on their site apart from the requisite amount of UCAS points, which I should hopefully get :)
It's not clear from your post whether you're considering Archaeology with 'Media Studies' or with 'Media Production'. There's no such course at Winchester as 'Media Practise' (even if that horrid American spelling was acceptable - in British English 'practise' is a verb, 'practice' is the noun).

However the course leaflet for the Archeaology component states:
"We do not require any particular A levels and do not expect that you have an practical archaeological experience. However, if you have the opportunity to take part in some fieldwork or work on artefacts in a museum before commencing the course, then take it. What you should have is a strong interest in archaeology and archaeological methods – so do watch Time Team and other television programmes in archaeology."
