Deleting Photographs

I take lots and lots of photographs as I sell on eBay and have the best of intentions to delete after each listing, but I don't. I often take 2 or 3 of the same thing too so I do end up with hundreds of unwanted photos. Now here's my question. When I come to delete, I thought that by pressing Ctrl and highlighting a number of them together would delete them, but all it does is copy them; so then try again and it does a copy 2. PLEASE tell me what I'm doing wrong. I know I can delete the whole folder but sometimes that's not convenient. I've been meaning to ask you this for months and hadn't got round to it. Thanks in advance.

One alternative is that once you've highlighted them right-click; in that pop-up menu will be the DELETE option (usually near the bottom of the menu options).

HI Bibblebub, Yes that's what I mean - I do that, but after right-clicking and pressing delete, there are always copies at the end of the row. I've just tried again now, and i's always the same. I've even tried deleting from the actual DELETE on the left rather than the right-clicking but it still makes copies! Arrrgh
Where are you when you are doing this - using Windows Explorer, for example?

Try highlighting the photos you want to delete and hit the delete button on your keyboard instead of the mouse.

Bibblebib, I'm in Windows XP. Mdoo98 I think you may be right. Dodger I'll try that too. Thanks all for replying to me.
Another way of highlighting multiple files is to go to EDIT and SELECT ALL or else you can draw round the multiple files with your mouse to highlight them.

Mdoo98 has hit the nail on the head. I tried again but this time slower and more careful and that seems to have done the trick. Thank you all for our help. I appreciate it.
