I have just purchased a Samsung S5560 to replace a broken phone and have put my o2 contract sim into the phone, which was purchased as a PAYG.
I have a Virgin Broadband wireless router which the Samsung finds (have used network key and all running ok) but when I browse the web, the phone won't use the WiFi.
I rang O2 who say I need a WiFi bolt on (for more money each month!). My husband has a contract phone with WiFi, and he uses the WiFi and he has no bolt on.
Can anyone help???
Thanks
Lise

I cannot find the S5560 on Samsung's website. However neither the S5500 and the S5600 have the ability to use wi-fi. Wi-fi connectivity is still quite a high-end feature for mobile phones and many don't have it. So just because you can use the internet on the phone, doesn't mean you can use your home wifi with it. The type of signal home wi-fi uses is very different to and EDGE or 3G signal that a phone will normally receive.

Of course, if your hubby has the same phone, then there obviously a problem, but it doesn't sound like he does. So I reckons you're stuck there.

Thanks for your reply. The phone does have WiFi and I couldn't find it on Samsung's website either? Not sure why? Maybe it's relatively new?
When I set up the phone, O2 sent me 'Post Pay' settings for me to install and be able to surf the net and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with not being able to surf wirelessly.
Thanks

not sure why you couldn't find it on samsungs site.

the manual isn't very clear, but it does say you have to change the connection profile to use the wireless LAN. (page 55)

I have now managed somehow to get the phone to use the WiFi bt now I get a message saying 'DNS Error'. Arrrggghhhhh! Just want to throw the phone across the room- nothing is ever simple.
Also spoke to a guy in o2 shop who said I need to speak to Samsung directly.
