Over the past few years I have started to develop eye bags and fatty upper lids(I'm 47 next week). I've tried all sorts of creams to get rid of them but I think the last resort is going to have to be surgery. Has anyone had this, whats the recovery like and can anyone recommend a surgeon in the north east of England ? Thank you much

You will have to attend your GP's surgery first and ask him/her to refer you to an Opthalmic/Eye Surgeon.

The operation is very straightforward and usually lasts about 20 mins per eyelid. Recovery is minimal, it is a small incision. Where I work it is often carried out under local anaesthetic. Can't recommend a surgeon in the NE as I don't live there but as i said it is routine and will be a standard procedure for any Eye surgeon.

Forgot to add the procedure is called blepharoplasty.
