Ours doesn't.
Neither does mine. It's supposed to be placed on earth.
Nope - you want the worms to come and process it all for you.

Best to fork over the ground before you set it up too

My fat ex-daughter-in-law`s got a big `un`......eat`s like a pig also.
carlton:- that's naughty (but very funny)!
glad someone posted this as i never knew that i have one in my back garden that was there when i moved in but it has been placed on slabs at the back of the garden ,i will now be busy tomorrow trying to move it to a soily part of my garden
the worms need to get in there to compost the waste!........so only works well on loose soil really!.................
Mine has - it stops the worms I bought getting out.
would disagree, doesn't have to be on soil, I have 3 old style dustbins in my yard. They are on concrete, we drilled loads of holes near the base, and fill them with kitchen waste and chicken poo, there are always lots of red worms in them, don't know where they come from but they find the bins and make lovely compost. x
well, ye slinkycat, the worms will find their way there, but better if on open soil, so much easier, and more worms! So the material is composted quicker!..................
I must have olympic standard worms, superhero worms, worms on little wormy zipwires making their way to my compost bin cos the bins in the yard compost just as quick as the one on soil in the garden:-)
Oh well, that's great then slinkycat! I would then keep on doing what you're doing! if it works, then don't fix it!.........lol.................
