I find this generation a little bit too throw away for me. I know it sounds sad but I still repair things....and this is even sadder. I had a white egyptian cotton King size bed sheet that had a very small hole in it. The cotton was perfect, beautiful, rich and soft and I couldn't bear to throw it out or use it for dusters.........so I am in the process of hand stitching Hankies for the Old Man...about 50 of them. Now how crazy is that?

I think you're right HoneyBeeTree . The majority of the young today are great. I dont think anyone's having a go or stereotyping, it's just different. We didn't have the resources that are around now, so we made do. As I said it was different, not necessarily better xx

Ooh poodicat,now you ARE taxing my little grey cells!
As my first officia wage packet was in 1939,it IS a bit difficult to remember.
However,I think it was like lardhelmet and gave it ALL to my Mum,and then she dished out what she thought I neede from that.
She wasn't best pleased when I joined up and was away from home,and could spend it how I liked.LOL
