There is no cure for asthma.
You can help to control your breathing by teaching yourself to breathe properly (diaphragmatic breathing) but you cannot cure yourself.
Ric.ror The technique you are thinking of is probably Buteyko Breathing. Google it as it would be easier than me trying to explain it. I know it helps some people as I have a lot of experience in breathing techniques over 35 years of Yoga teaching. Daffy is right you need to breathe properly but some things work for some people and Buteyko is one of them.
My GP is a big fan of this technique. He says it cured him of his asthma. Incidentally, he is well know for his dislike of alternative therapies so when he told me this I was really surprised. But he is adamant it works......
This doesn't answer your question but it may be of interest to asthma sufferers.

Thanks for all this help - its actually for my son and he is not that bad but if I thought it would help I would give it a go - again thanks
I wouldn't say there is no 'cure' for asthma. Certainly a lot of kids get it and grow out of it as I have. I had about three 'attacks' in my adult life so far and they were due to going into a house with a lot of fluffy cats!
Whatever happened to the vaccination that they were working on years ago-is that still in the pipeline?
