Well... you know how all the bars and restaurants have enclosed terraces on the arenal? The council are classing them all as illegal extensions. And I think they only want them to open 5 months of the year too. Needless to say the bar owners and local estate agents are up in arms.

Typical Spanish red tape and ridiculous laws.. Those restaurants and bars have been like that for 20 years plus!!!! WHy have they never objected before??? Only in Spain eh!!!
I thought the Mayor of Javea wanted Javea to become the next Benidorm (sadly).. he wont get that if they close them down for 7 months a year!!!
Was it in the Costa Blanca news???

Well apparently the council wanted to increase the rates and the local bar and restaurant owners vetoed that. This is their way of getting their own back. They are a bloody minded bunch the Spanish. I'll see if I can dig out the paper, then I'll find a link on their website.
