Hi,
I was wondering, if any time we have reason to take our computers/laptops into a repair shop to get it fixed, and have to leave it with them for a period of time, do you think the work staff ever have a nosey through our personal contents/files stored on them?!

that's how Gary Glitter was caught - download your stuff & clean off....some ppl are more sensitive.
I imagine it very much depends where you take it. Computer shops aren't created equal. It's like asking "if I get an electrician to do my wiring, will they overcharge me?". Well, they might. Might be a lot, might be just a bit, might be a bargain. That would very much depend on which electrician did it, wouldn't it?

Although yes, I would imagine many do. The real issue isn't whether they'll look but rather, whether you have something to hide!
As I run a business repairing computers, I can easily answer this. I just wouldn't have the time. Browsing someones hdd takes time, and I would much prefer to fix it as quickly as possible and charge for it. The more computers I fix, the more money I make. Simple really.
