The implication of your situation seems to be that Saga are saying that this risk is not covered by their Buildings Insurance policy. I have to agree with them. Whilst subsidence is covered, this is not subsidence. Whilst damage by storm, flood, escape of water from the house, collision or falling trees is covered, this is none of these things. So you are actually trying to claim for something that isn't a risk they cover. Small wonder the computer said 'no'.
Saga would not pay out when my flat roof leaked after severe weather. Said that it should be maintained every 3 years even though the average lifespan of a flat roof is 20 years or so! In-laws(aged 89!) had a fire which made their cooker unusable. Saga took over a week to send assessor and are now dragging their feet about getting the replacement to them. The fire also burnt the carpet tiles in their kitchen and Saga insist that these are not covered on contents insurance but on buildings insurance!!
