So how would you do it, how do you decide what to cook?

do you play it safe and go for tried and trusted recipes, or somthing different but flash and hopefully impress.

What do you do if one of the guests turns out to be a fussy eater from hell, as you provide your menu in advance and im guessing a little tweaking is allowed but a full on menu change wouldn't be.

For example i was watching the other night and i think the menu was a mushroom starter, chicken main and a jelly desert - starter and pud out the window not even going near them.
I'm sure the chicken had a mushroon stuffing (but i might be confused with another night) and i could of eaten round that. How would you cope as a host.

(apart from telling me where to go....)

i think i would be tempted to go for a meze to tapas style meal to give a variety

naked twister vibes?
dont think I would qualify....not good at decorated plates and hand-placing every pea after dipping it in chocolate.

I'd never qualify tambo, i have way to many food issues! (it makes eating out interesting)

but it think its about good food and good hosting rather than "designer dishes"
I'd do two dishes for the starter, where anyone can choose either.

starter: option of a soup and crutons OR pate (with a mushroom option) on toast with red onion chutney and salad.

main: english vegetable stir fry with beef or tofu

pudding: raspberry pavlova with forest fruit coulee OR chocolate and orange torte with a biscuity base for crunch.

all of which can be done in advance and stored or kept warm or the stir fry only takes 5 minutes.

what flavour soup and are there mushrooms/toms in the stirfry?
I actually got a letter inviting me to apply for this...DH say they must have wanted me for the episode where everyone gets food poisoning
not sure about the soup.

definatly mushrooms if noones allergic to them, maybe a little bit of tomatoe.

probably, carrot, onion, sautee potatoe, mushroom, tomato, cabbage.

with the carot and cabbage in ribbons.

in a red wine sauce with a few herbs a spices.

My 16 yr old daughter and her friends have just done their own 'Come dine with me' during this weeks half term. They in pairs tho and over three nights. They filmed it and everything,. In fact she out at the final one now.....Great fun!
I wouldn't do it, I woulldn't want complete strangers poking through my knicker drawer!
Not even if they were famous people boxtops?!
