I have been sent a catalogue on disc, but when I put it in the drive (D)  it starts to whirr up but the program does not start, nothing happens. Other similar discs start up straight away, but not this one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'd love to help but I'm not grown up.

May sound daft...But are you trying to run a DVD in a normal drive?

If not then explore the disc..from there you will see an icon allowing you to kick it.

No it's it's a document in PDF format, on disc. There is no way to explore the disc as nothing appears on the screen when it is whirring in the drive (this stops after a while) . Is there any instuction I can input to run drive D

When on your desktop, double-click "My Computer", then double-click your D: drive, then double-click the PDF file to open it.

Not all discs will autorun, they have to have special files written on them to enable this functionality. You'll have to do it the old fashioned way described above.

Still no joy I'm afraid! Did this, but drop down menu only has: Open, explore, search, eject, create document & properties. ( it calls it'self 'my disc') Is there any way I can use the RUN facility in the start menu?

perhaps "Open"

'Fraid not that either... Thanks to all for suggestions. I'll hand it to my PC guru when he gets back from hols next week.
Daft question but do you have Adobe Acrobat on your computer (or some other programme which will read PD files)?
Question Author
Yes there is adobe reader there. The disc is a workshop manual that I bought off ebay, so Im now awaiting word back from the seller
if it's continually whirring, take it out and try cleaning the disc, o or the drive's laser itself (with a special CD). else, if you have another optical drive, try it in that.

Thanks again to all on this one, got the solution, at last, from the seller !

I had to right click drive D, click on EXPLORE, find a file, among dozens, called T WORKS, opened it , and hit the jackpot.

Dont think any of us could have worked that one out

no but we did tell you to explore the disk... we couldn't tell you the exact file you needed though.
