Foxes - are you a lover or hater (or in between) ?

I aim this mainly at posters in urban areas.
Personally, I like them - I like the sounds they make, the look of them, their habits, the fact that (most) cats co-exist with them.
My solution to them tearing into bin-bags is to wash anything that smells 'foody' before throwing it away and placing any compost/left overs into open containers that they will eat from. Any left over food I have to deal with goes under the "fox tree" here where I live.

It isn't very often that a turkey lays eggs and when they do they are purely for making 'other turkeys' (reproduction would be a better word I suppose). Our turkeys are american bourbon reds, http://www.feathersit...urkeys/BourbonPr.JPEG They are huge :)

my parents reared turkeys and they laid everyday, and the eggs were huge. people do eat turkey eggs but they have to be seasoned well, they are very fresh. they make great omelet.

Well I didn't know that! The biggest egg i've ever had before is a goose egg, they are scrummy :)

In that case maybe i ought to get a turkey, don't think i could love them like my hens though, you have to admit they are ugly!

Foxes kill and eat rabbits . A rabbit is a good meal for a fox.If you kill the foxes you get more rabbits, that breed like,..er.. rabbits !.Rabbits are vermin and can clear quite an area of crops very quckly.That's why myxamatosis was introduced and why farmers were compelled, by law, to kill rabbits.What then is the point of killing foxes ? To save chickens? The big egg producers have thousands of chickens but don't have a fox problem and nor does anyone else who takes sensible precautions (as, for example , set out above). We won't have any fox killed on this farm; we know our friends from our enemies.
Employing hunt staff,keeping, breeding and feeding dozens of hounds etc, all year, to hunt twice a week, at most, in winter only, with dozens of horses, to kill the odd fox is manifestly absurd..The killing isn't exactly 100 per cent humane either, even if it made sense.
