On the new VW Beetle, can anyone tell me whereabouts the first gear is in relation to the reverse gear? Are they next to each other and do you have to push or pull the gear lever to select reverse?

to select reverse you need to push down the gear lever ( towards the floor ) and then along and up into reverse.
