Can anyone recommend anything that will help stop bleeding after a shaving cut. I nicked my neck several times yesterday morning it looked like a massacre. I had an old styptic pencil which was as much use as a stick are there any better ?

Hi spikeybob,My Dad use to stick ciggie papers on when he cut himself and leave them on till the blood dried up.He looked really funny and had us all in stitches. But it worked. He used 5 o clock shadow blades !!dont think they sell them these days, thank god.( :)

I use a thing called an Alum Stick, which is absolutly brilliant.

It is from the L'Occitane range - just look in a fancy gift shop.  It'll cost you about 5.00, and will last for years.

Here's the link to the product - it's 5.50 and you can mail order from within the UK.
I use a styptic pencil called Nix from Boots which I've always found to be very good.
I also remember my husband saying that the King of Shaves range did something that did the trick too. (Avail in Boots)

can i say use saliva to stop any (slight) bleeding? no?

ok

shave first then get in the shower, works for me.

I never shave in the morning! I always shave at night, before a bath or shower, which saves the problem of cuts.

To avoid cuts, soak a flannel in hot water - hotter than your hads can stand, so use rubber gloves. Hold it onto your face, take a breath first because you need to cover your mouth and nose. It cooks very quickly, so five or six seconds is plenty. Repeatr, and then shave, you'll have few, if any nicks at all if you do it this way.
