Sounds like it is faulty.

I would get a new one.

Perhaps ebay might be a good place to start the search.
Chargers get warm in normal use - they do not get hot! If yours is getting this hot, it's faulty and dangerous, and should not be used AT ALL.
As PB says: Get a new one, but get it now, and do not use the faulty one again.
I'm going to disagree slightly, I would say chargers can and do get very hot which is normal, they should not get scolding hot though.

I've seen lots of chargers on brand new laptops that get hot enough that they are close to being uncomfortable to hold after prolonged use especially if charging an empty battery and using the laptop at the same time.

I wouldn't dash out and buy a new charger just yet, is it cooler if you run the laptop without the battery in it for a little while?

hi all

its a fairly new charger...though i bought it on ebay from hong kong...?

do you mean if i remove the actual battery from the casing? ive never done that...
Try running the laptop from the plug and only use the battery when desperate. I had this problem during the summer. Cleaning the laptop with a special aerosol spray from a computer shope may also help, as it may be dusty!!
