Watching BBC iplayer on my Imac

my imac does not like iPlayer or any of the other channels' catch-up programmes - the sound is usually fine, but the picture often freezes for several seconds so the video is slower than the audio - the imac is running Safari at present - is there anything I can do to cure this?

Nothing wrong with watching any of these on my mac book running safari. Have you checked that your mac has sufficient memory
