sounds slider bar/volume control - bottom right corner

Don't know how, but i seem to have lost the button to click on the volume control! I've tried various places but can't find it. Problem is that it was on mute so I can't hear anything! Anybody help please?

which operating system are you using?.

Assuming XP:
Control Panel/Sounds and Audio
Check the box "Place volume icon in the taskbar"

Found it guys - thanks for the advice rojash. Although not the same, I did as you advised and suddenly there it was, back where it belongs!! Thanks again.
