Can anyone give a definitive answer to who is the best cable/tv/internet/phone supplier? I have been on the comparison sites and am left a bit confused! We are using Vgin at the moment and feel we are paying a bit over the odds. When we signed up it sounded a great deal as they all do. Free this free that and the other. I know they tempt us with 3 month offers and free installation etc, but I thought the monthly bill would be about £37 from what I could work out!
The deal we took on was £11 a month line rental £19 per month Broad Band and £7.50 a month talk anytime!! = £37.50. We pay on average however about £50.00!! I have checked the bill and still confused, if anyone has any comments it would be appreciated.
By the way we use the phone very little, and broadband perhaps an hour or two a day.
Regards.

It depends on exactly what package you have at the moment. Do you make calls to mobiles? With Virgin they are not free in the £7.50 a month talk anytime offer. Again, surprisingly, it also depends on how long you have been with Virgin. I've been with them 10 years and when Isaw a good offer being made to New Customers only,Icalled them and asked what they could do for me. Suggesting you may leave them works wonders!

I have full 10Mb Broadband £25.00. Land line £11.00. Talk anytime £7.50. Total £43.50.

I get £18.00 loyalty discount - yes £18.00 - so pay only £25.50 per month. I do not have a TV packge.

Give them a call and ask for a discount. You never know . . . . . .
I agree with the above. I also got my package reduced.
Hi itsmefolks

Noticed you said you're with VM at the moment....we are too, and have never had a any major problems with them....always a great service and fast too........bit of advice, if you think your'e paying over the odds....
Ring VM customer services...tell them that you're thinking to change supplier, as you think you could get better deal/offer elsewhere, and wait to see what they offer you in return for staying loyal to them. Worked for me.

Especially if you've been with them for a long time too.....they would rather you stayed with them than went elsewhere. Cant hurt, can it?....especailly if you're happy with the service they provide.

The problem with going with another supplier is that you could bind yourself to a 12 month plus contract, so if anything DOES go wrong, and you want to cancel with them, you have to pay penalties........look into it before deciding....i would and best of luck to you.

Aha....i did'nt read lilsecret and TTG's posts.......i rest my case.......try it! :0)
btw....i get loyalty discount too.....substantial loyalty discount.....VM are pretty good.
Just be aware that with BT every bill you get will have a few quid added on just to see if your taking notice -

the ba$tards!

Or is that just for me ??
I've stayed away from answering this because I have been criticised for my normal answer to these questions before...

But there is not a single good provider, for each ISP you will find people that have had good experiences with them and plenty that have had bad.

I hate to say it, but it's largely luck of the draw, if you sign up for any provider and the service works fine you will think they are good, if your unlucky and the service doesn't work then you will think they are bad.

What you need to remember though is that other than virgin media (and rare LLU services) all other ISP's are simply reselling a BT service so if things go wrong they are relying on BT to sort it out.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The general feeling is, as I presumed! Looking at the compare websites states the same really.
I wonder how long it is before one becomes a loyal customer to gain a discount? Anyway its worth a go, i`ll let you know. Many thanks again.
