Why does everyone asked express surprise that the MPs expenses were not mentioned in the Queens speech ?
I'm not ! They will wriggle and squirm and delay any attempt to reduce their rackets.

what would you have expected her to say, exactly? The speech is mainly supposed to tell the public what is going to affect them, not what is going to affect MPs. She wouldn't list catering changes in the parliament canteen either.

Are you saying jno that as taxpayers the public are not affected. It should have been mentioned to allow time for any necessary legislation, otherwise it will not be enacted .

The Queens speech is where new llegislation is announced.

New legislation is not required for this - running it has already been handed over to an independent body. No new laws are required.

The Queens speech issue is just politicking
Yea but if that question is raised by the queen then the question of her and her family's expenses might be called into question as well.
And that seems to be a question no one has the guts to question.
opps got carried away with the questions question then. thatss last question should have been "asked".
What about her VAT returns.....she never mentioned that!

I see that G Brown has now agreed that some legislation will be required and time will be made available. The problem is that the group appointed to oversee the process are all MPs , some of whom are themselves major culprits.
