That never struck me - its disgraceful that he was paid at all !

He tried to wangle out of it by saying~"I never asked for it,the BBC offered it to me!"
Well, he could have refused it couldn't he?
Of course this comes/came? from our licence fee payments.
Can anyone provide a link to show that he DOESN'T get paid this fee now?

I ask as I can only find references to him not getting paid in 2007,no mention of "future* payments.
Of course it only took him 27 years (1980~2007) to do something about being paid for Children in Need,what a quick decision!
