Hi, I have recently had a hole cut into my external kitchen wall so that I can move my tumble dryer into the kitchen a put the vent hose through hole. The hole and the vent hose are at a similar level and I am worried about rain travelling along the hos and getting into the tumble dryer. Does anyone have any advice on how to avoid this? Maybe there is some kind of vent cover I can fit to the outside of the wall to protect anything getting into the vent hose, but still allowing for ventilation.I have been looking on the internet for this, but am not having much luck.

If anyone has any advice, or links to a product, this would be most appreciated.

There is not a lot of cause for worry about rain reaching the dryer unless the hole is facing into a storm with heavy rain. On the other hand, draughts through the vent duct are another thing altogether (inevitable). One way of combating this is to fit a gravity-closing louvre grille - rather like you see fitted as outside terminals to bathroom vents such as Xpelair and Vent-Axia. Most electrical outlets such as you will find in your yellow pages (those that supply electricians, local ones who do straight retail are the best source) will have good and cheap ones in stock. Make certain you match the size of terminal to the duct (as big or bigger than the hose, else it will be too restrictive to flow).
