switched on pc and my i.e icon is missing from my desktop, does anyone know how to get it back? thanks

You dont say what version of Windows you are using.

If you open your main "Windows" menu on the bottom left there should be an option there for "Internet Explorer"

I believe you can "drag" the icon using the RIGHT button of your mouse to the dekstop and it will create a short cut there.
Depending how Windows is set up sometimes Windows will add or remove the icon from the desktop.

For example, under XP, if you use the "normal" Start menu in the bottom left the icon is NOT on the desktop, but if you change the menu to the "Classic Start Menu" it DOES add IE to the desktop.

So maybe someone has changed some of the Windows settings on your PC.

i tried to drag it but that didnt work, it was there when i switched it off and it was gone when i switched it back on the following day, settings havent been touched
how do i go classic menu? thanks

Before you change to Classic style - try this

Click START - a window will appear which should show Internet Explorer. This time LEFT click and drag onto your desktop. The icon should be restored.
