you can use your own cmoputer as a sever, but then you'll have to have it switched on 24/7, and it should be on a fast internet connection if you're expecting to get any more than a few people visiting. also, don't expect to be able to use your computer that much at the same time, as the server programs take up quite a bit of resources.

your computer also becomes much more prone to attacks too.

in short, unless its a proper server with very reliable hardware and software, or it's only a really small site to be visited by friends and family, then forget it. just get some hosting. it's not that expensive.

what are internauts??

ok. so, how do you make the pages accessible? in what way? you mean so they can go online?

you'll need to download some server software (like apache), maybe get something like PhP if you want that. configure everything for what you need. asuming you are on broadband, what speed? you'll need to make sure your IP is static, and buy a domain name and route it to your IP. if it isn't static you can get some things that give the effect of a static IP.
As explained, this is possible but I'd definitely advise against it, especially if you're not enough of an expert at that game not to have to ask the above question in the first place.

Put your website on some free webspace : lots of companies give free webspace if you allow them to show ads on your site, e.g. :
http://tinyurl.com/bot7h

Your ISP may also give you free webspace that you can use. This is more likely to be ad-free (as is paying a hosting company such as brinkster, above, for hosting).

Finally, as someone else has posted before you could sign up for a virgin pay-as-you-surf account, never use the connection itself (and thus never pay anything) but take advantage of the free webspace.
