Could anyone help with an disagreement my partner and I have about the slang word for the arm on the front of an electic guitar. Proper name I think is tremolo arm.

my brother calls it a 'wah-wah bar' , i presume in reference to the noise it makes when used.

Whammy bar is the most common term for the tremelo arm, but it has also been called a wang bar from time to time.
