hi anyone living in the Leeds area? It is getting beyond the joke now, 5 weeks and the bins still not being emptied. The binman/people are on strike over pay. There are bags of rubbish down the street, it stinks attracting lots of flies and maybe rats!!!!!

i know the council want to cut their salaries by a third (e.g. some who are on £18k will be reduced to £12k according to the union) no wonder they are on strike. Why dont the council just sack them and employ new staff there are thousands of unemployed people in Leeds that would do it, no matter what salaries they'd be on.

OK they cant sack them, otherwise it would be unfair dismissal. If the contracts are due to be renewed im sure the council can do what ever they like? i dont know, but i hope they get it sorted cos its 5 wks now and the street is turning into a landfilled site.

None of the bankers and other chancers who nearly ruined the country are being asked to take a 33% cut in their fat salaries. Why should council workers who earn their wages by hard labour have theirs reduced?

hi sandy, i know what you mean. but the council should sort it out asap, as if the binmen/people would be happy for salary cut!.

The bank has nothing to do with the government, they are privately owned so can do what ever they like (except some banks)
