if you ever watch a programme like "top gear" they always seem to have this type of car on praising it to the hilt this seems like advertising to me and what more its free advertising except on the bbc where we the viewer has to pay for the privilege !!
as andy says, these are top end manufactures whos names sell them...they dont need to was the money
I read somewhere that it is only in the last couple of years the Mercedez-Benz have used TV advertising for the very first time because of increasing competiton.
TV viewers are seen by advertisers as 'inherenelty down market ' i.e. more likely to belong to lower socio-economic groups just by dint of owning and watching a tv - especially viewers of commercial channels where ads can be aired (hence the high level of low price mundane goods, Mr Muscle, Special K, etc). The luxury car brands  certainly do advertise - but in the same places as the others that we don't see on our downmarket tv's. The right kind of magazines and events - by invitation only, are more their sort of thing I'd imagine.
they dnt need to advertise because its ferrari ...
the ones that watch TV are simple folk who wont be able to even afford a rarri, ones that can, on the other hand, havent got ant time to watch TV, so it'd be pointless :D
