My mum has given me a few apples from a tree in her garden. I am not very good at cooking desserts but thought I might give one a go or maybe try making apple sauce? I am not sure how long this keeps though. Anybody have any idea's what I could try doing with these apples?

peel and core the apples, put into a large bowl with just a drop of water and microwave it for a couple of minutes. stir and repeat until the apples are complete mush (doesn't take long). put into freezable containers (plastic take-away boxes are ideal) and freeze until solid then transfer to plastic bags (takes up less space in freezer) and store in freezer until needed.
useful for crumbles, pies, or just plain old apple sauce. add whatever sugar or sweetener you want when you thaw it out to use.
OR..make baked apples. Core them......and cut a 'cross' aprox 1 inch down acroos the hole. Fill the hole with sultanas, brown sugar and some butter. Bake for 20-30 min or untill the apples have sofened, yet are still a bit firm. Serve as is-or with custard, ice cream....whatever!
here are a load of apple recipes to try http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipes/searchresults.aspx?tag=apple but my favourite is the apple cake! gorgeously moist and keeps for ages! http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/6034/apple-cake.aspx
