Hi, Can someone tell me what product i can use to remove acrylic paint from a sash window that I need to repaint with a gloss paint. I DO NOT want to strip the window back to bare wood because it will take too long and also might not be cost effective as I have a limited amount of time to do this job.

If it cannot be removed with solvents would sand paper or sugar soap do the trick?

Hi, if it's acrylic gloss that's on there why not just rub it down and repaint with either proper oil based paint or even with acrylic again. With a sash window you just have to make sure that the paint does not interfere with the smooth running of it. If there is a lot of paint on it then the best way is to remove it all and start again. Nothing worse than a sash window that is very hard to open or close.
