Everytime the house phone rings, my left ear has this 'flapping sound' inside. For example, this is hard to explain but it's like a hand is waving back and forth. The house phone isn't that loud but it drives me mad. I even had it yesterday at a random time. Any ideas? Is it my ear or brain trying to protect me from the sound? Thanks

Forgot to say that I did have an inner ear infection -in the left ear - (labyrinthitis) a few months ago for which I was prescribed some tablets to stop me feeling dizzy/ not with it. The tablets worked anyway. Not sure if it's related to that at all but my husband sometimes suffers with the 'flapping' too so maybe it's not
Hi
It happens to me also, certain loud-ish noises, i just put it down to good hearing.
It could also be Tinnitus.
