There is nothing written on your passport that says 'this person was given a criminal record' on blah blah date

But I am guessing what you really mean is can anyone at the US customs gate know by looking at your passport whether or not you have a criminal record and therefore refuse you entry to the US? The answer is no, they cannot.

If you search this section (and the law section too) you will find many numerous posts on this very subject. Just tick the 'NO' box on the paperwork you are give on the plane that asks do you have a record

And tell your 'firns', what ever that is a shortened version of, to stop looking nervous.
Look at your passport. Does it say 'this guy/gal has a criminal record'?

No it doesn't. All the information that is recorded on it is there to be read or seen (in the case of the picture) in clear. There is nothing extra hidden.
hanhol is perhaps wondering if the US immigration people have computer links that show up a traveller's criminal record. They may have a watch list of terrorist suspects, but otherwise no, they don't.

thanks everyone....all at ease!
His is quite interesting. I've been wondering whether they have all the records of anyone who got a record in the uk? I doubt it very much. I do think they'd have records on dangerous people/criminals. To put a long story short I had a record which is now spent under UK law. Nothing serious. I applied for the ESTA authorisation ang got accepted straight away. Surely if I was not eligable to travel because of a past record they'd tell me I was declined. Why would they let me
board a plane just to waste mine and their time. Do they do any rigerous checks at the immigration desk?
