Pluto was Mickey's pet not Goofy's.  Goofy is a dog, just a rather odd one.  On a similar theme - Donald Duck never wears trousers but when he comes out of the shower/bath he wraps a towel round his waist - what's up with that?!

I suppose it must be because he is wet, but I wonder if he wraps a towel round himself when he has been in a pond with the other ducks too..
